Adjusted summer operating hours at Atlantis, Kommetjie drop-off sites

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate advises residents that the Atlantis and Kommietjie drop-off sites will operate under adjusted summer hours from 1 October 2025.

Previously, both facilities closed at 20:00 during the summer season. From 1 October 2025 onwards:
 
• Atlantis Drop-off will close at 19:00
• Kommetjie Drop-off will close at 19:30
 
Opening hours remain unchanged.
 
This adjustment follows careful consideration of usage patterns at both facilities. The earlier closing times are based on the operational costs required to maximise impact on waste diversion.
 
‘The City continuously monitors how our facilities are used to ensure that resources are deployed responsibly. These revised summer hours will continue to meet community needs while keeping service delivery cost-effective,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
